Nkosi Sikelele Afrika!!!
(God bless Africa!!!)
Dear Friends
We have been in South Africa now for almost a month and the African Air is doing us all GOOD! God has worked in schools and unexpected places and we continue to feel very fortunate to be in service of the King of Kings.
After the time we spent at Alabanza, outside Pretoria, we RACED down to Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape.
And… The Lime Team came in first!
We hired a care and although the road was long, Kimmy kept us enterained with her FUNNY mask and other items that will remain a Lime Team Secret!
When we arrived at the " pierre" in Port Elizabeth, ALL the family members were waiting for us with open arms!
It was SUCH an amazing moment to be back with loved ones and our hearts are FULL of thankfulness that God kept us all safe during this year!
We all spent that weekend in Jeffreys Bay resting and preparing for the next week of ministry.
All of the World Race teams spent the next week presenting the Beat The Drum Curriculum in schools in the Uitenhage area.
Our team went to Mc Arthy Secondary School and most of us were also living with "guest parents" from the community.
God did amazing things in the classes and our time with the kids just never seemed enough.
Kimmy had an especially blessed time with the family she lived with, and felt led to remain in this comminity while the rest of our team departed elsewhere.
Lana, Jacques and Stefan, joined by
Clara, Estee, Anthony, Lloyd and Jessica S. first visited a primary school in Port Elizabeth with a 1000 kids and shared stories of what God had done this year.
We were all moved tremendously by the voices of these little ones as they sang together to the glory of God!
What a privilege to live in a country where the Gospel can be shared FREELY in schools!
Afther this wonderful blessing with the children, we left for Adelaide, the small town where Stefan and Lana grew up in.
We spent the week living with their parents and helping out at the local Bible School.
We layed carpets, hanged curtains, sorted books and spent time in fellowship with the students.
We also had the privilege of visiting two schools in the community and MANY youngsters made a decision to follow Jesus Christ!!!
Glory to God!
We will all be rejoined tomorrow, as we head to Umtata, in the old Transkei area, where we will continue with the Beat The Drum Curriculum.
Time is quickly running out and we all want to make the most of EVERY second of the rest of The World Race 2006.
We sincerely want to thank all our prayer supporters for your faithful prayers!
Please continue to carry us in prayer, especially since the time for "re-entry" is drawing near.
Pray that God will continue His special work in our lives and that The World Race will be a way of living that will continue for the rest of our lives!
May the Lord bless and Keep you all!

A LIFE LIKE NO OTHER!!

Dear Friends!
We're safely back in SOUTH AFRICA!
We were scheduled to have debrief in Kenya during this week, but no venue could be found and we ended up flying back to South Africa earlier than planned!
Our time in Tanzania was truly blessed and we are thankful to the wonderful people who made our ministry there possible:
Bishop Eludi, Pastor Gift and Christina, John, William, Celestine, and our brothers and sisters at the
International Evangelism Centre, Arusha.
We spent precious moments with the children at Alice's orphanage and they will remain in our hearts and prayers always.
May our Lord truly bless each one of our devoted Christian friends tremendously for their obedience and sacrifice for the Body of Christ in Tanzania.
Since our arrival in South Africa we have been blessed tremendously by friends in Pretoria!
We have seen a provincial rugby match (GO PROVINCE!!!), had a wonderful meal at "Mike's Kitchen" and a BRAAI!!!
The highlight of our time here so far was joining Coenie and Sonja, friends of ours, at a Home Bible Study Group last night.
This wonderful group of believers blessed us tremendously by washing our feet, praying and anointing us for future ministry.
We were challenged by their faith and love for the Lord.
We ended up sharing stories of God's faithfulness all night and it was real hard to say goodbye when it was time to leave.
A great big THANK YOU to all of you for welcoming us so warmheartedly and blessing us with your prayers and enthusiasm about God's Work!
Please keep in touch!
We will join the other teams on Saturday at Alabanza, outside of Pretoria, for debrief.
We are VERY thankful to be in
South Africa and are very much looking forward to our time of ministry here.
Please pray for Stefan, Jacques and Lana for the 're-entry' back into our own culture.
Thank God for His Faithfulness throughout the year!
We have grown to love Him more and more!
Lots of love in Christ,
The Lime Team

The Needs Of Arusha...
Dear Friends
We are all safely in Arusha, Tanzania. When we arrived at Nairobi Airport, we discovered that half of the World Racers' luggage had stayed behind at Cairo Airport! Our group of twelve (Lime Team, Yellow Team, Lloyd, Anna-Marie, Sarah R. and Jessica S.) decided to leave immediately for Tanzania as planned and trust God to send our luggage after us. So, the twelve of us had true "communtiy living", just as the early Church in Acts, for two days! And then the bags miraculously arrived - the Airport said that it will probably take 5 days to a week. We thank God for providing for us in such an amazing way - we are thankful to have our "beloved luggage" back! Strange how a person can grow so "close" to your bag in a year! :-)
Our time of ministry in Arusha is really blessed. We are working alongside a local church and every morning we divide into smaller groups to share the Gospel in the community. For many of us this has been a true "stretch" in ministry and it truly is one-on-one Evangelism. God is bringing much fruit on this ministry and already a great number of people have received Christ as their Personal Savior only in this week. There is, however, a great need for Bibles in this area. People cannot affort to buy their own Bibles and many have asked us if we could not do something about this. One Bible in the local language costs about $10. We want to ask on behalf of the local church for any contributions in this regard. The need truly is great!

We are also involved at a local orphanage for HIV orphans. All of their parents have passed away and many of them are HIV positive themselves. The orphanage is run by ONE lady and there are 46 little orphans. She has no support from the government and very little from the local church. Today when we arrived, we discovered that she had no food to give the children - there is no money. Any support in this regard will aslo be greatly appreciated. God has throughout this year laid orphans all over the world on our hearts, and this is once again a heartbreaking situation with GREAT need. There is also great need for a new building to accommodate all the children on a fulltime basis.
Please keep covering us in prayer - we truly are working in the "front lines" here in Tanzania. Thank the Lord with us for the work that He is already doing - and pray that we will walk wherever He guides us.
Lots of love in Christ Jesus,
THE LIME TEAM

TANZANIA, HERE WE COME!

Friends, our time in Egypt has now come to an end. We have been blessed beyond all our
expectations and are SO thankful to God for the valuable lessons we have learnt!
We are flying out of Cairo tonight, 1st September, and will land in Nairobi, Kenya, tomorrow morning. We plan to take a bus as soon as possible to Arusha, Tanzania, and hope to arrive there in the late afternoon. In Arusha we will join up with a local church and Bible School and our ministry will involve mostly Evangelism, as well as some physical building work.
Please pray with us for the following: Safe travel; easy crossing at the borders; good health for everyone (especially since we are entering a Malaria area); a blessed time of ministry; life-changing experiences. Thank the Lord with us for His faithful provision in all our needs! We are looking SO much forward to our ministry in Africa and have a great expectancy from the Lord.
God is really working in our lives at the moment concerning repantance and
forgiveness. We are all realising that we have not "arrived" and are in need of His grace 24/7. Please pray that He will continue this work in our lives and teach us to live in complete obedience to Him all the time!
We love you all and appreciate your prayers and support! We pray over you all our Lord's richest blessings!
We are not sure how available internet access will be in Arusha, so please bear with us if we may seem "silent".
Love in Christ Jesus,
The Lime Team

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF
MOSES...
Wow! What an amazing, surprising and life-changing time of ministry we have had! Our time at the Coptic Orthodox Church has been a great time of learning and we are SO thankful to the Lord for what He has done!
Kim spent most of her mornings helping
Evelyn, our missionary-friend, to prepare for the next school term. Evelyn is a kindergarten teacher and Kim helped her prepare visual aids, etc. Jacques and Lana were involved in ministry at orphanages during the mornings. They did dramas, taught songs and played games with the children. The kids were wonderful and once again, it was a sad goodbye when we had to greet them at our last meeting on Saturday. God has really challenged and taught us a lot this year through ministry to orphans. We must agree with James, "Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this, to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world." (James 1:27),
In the evenings, Kim and Lana were teaching English classes to the youth. They had LOTS of fun and the young people were eager to learn. Most of them can now say the books of the New Testament (in order) in English without looking at their notes, and they can also sing the song "Lord I lift Your Name on High"! Kim designed a few learning games and everyone enjoyed them tremendously!
One evening, all of the World Race girls were invited very suddenly to lead a youth meeting of a nearby church. We weren't prepared at all, but agreed to go because of the invitation. When we arrived at the meeting place, we heard that these young people belong to a persecuted church. Their church building was destroyed 10 years ago and they have not received permission from the government to rebuild it since then. One could see the dismay and hardship written on their faces, and we felt like we had SO little to give them! We only had one song to sing and one short drama. Fortunately, God is Strongest in our weakness. The young people ended up asking many questions about life as a Christian in the rest of the world. We could share with them stories of the persecuted church in China and India - and for the first time they felt like they were not alone! One could see the heaviness lift off their shoulders and faces! We believe that many people's lives were changed that evening - OUR LIVES MOST OF ALL! We learnt a great deal from these young people's commitment to the Lord in spite of the hardships that they face. We all realized the amazing privilege we had of growing up in countries where we had absolute freedom to follow Christ!
We also had the privilege of spending time with Bishop Thomas. This kind, gentle and wise man of God shared MANY profound truths with us! He is loved and respected by the whole community, both Christian and Muslim. We were very aware of
the big differences between the Coptic Orthodox Church and Church as we know it back home. Bishop Thomas' greeting words to us, though, were: "We are all organs of the same body. We look very different and we function very different. In spite of this, we share the same DNA - Christ." WOW! We have learnt that even though the Christian Church across the world has many different faces, we all share Jesus Christ, The Father and The Holy Spirit. Being different is not always wrong. And we should rather embrace the things that we DO share. All of us have been changed… We were accepted unconditionally by fellow brothers and sisters and they will remain dear friends of ours always.
We are now in Cairo for a time of debrief before we head off to Kenya and then Tanzania. Stefan is back from London and had a very blessed time in preparing for The Global Challenge UK. Our team, along with the Yellow Team, will be ministering at a Bible School in Arusha, Tanzania, where most of our work will involve joining Evangelism projects run by the local church, as well as some physical serving. We are flying out on Friday evening, 1st September and hope to arrive in Arusha on the 2nd.
Please pray that we will keep on learning and changing! None of us want to miss ANYTHING of what God wants to change in us and build into our lives!
Many thanks for all the prayers and support!
Greetings in Christ,
The Lime Team

The lives of the four Lime Team members are as exciting as ever.
Lana, Jacques and Kim have made it to Quissa, Egypt (the mid-point of the country).
You may be wondering why we did not mention Stefan. He is currently in the UK. London to be exact. He has gone for 2 weeks to work on The Global Challenge UK for next year. He has made more contacts and is feeling more and more confident to start this new adventure in January. Please pray with him for everyone involved in this proejct and that God will let all the logistics fall into HIs Perfect Will.
Lana and Jacques traveled together with the Yello team, Anna-Marie and Cathy toIsrael and spent two days in the city of Jerusalem. They spent some time on the Mount of Olives, at the Garden Tomb and many other sites believed to be the actual places where Jesus minstered. Jacques and Anthony also had a great adventure when they ventured in Hezekiah's tunnel withouth any flashlights! The two of them were babbling for two days about their experience - boys
will be blys! The South Africans travelled over land to Cairo from Israel and were very blessed to be able to have a quick swim and snorkel in the Red Sea! What a beautiful sight! Everyone thought back of Moses and the Isralielites and their journey of faith through those waters. It was a great privilege to have spent so much time walking the footsteps of the early Church!
Since our time in Turkey, Kim has travelled with the Blue Team and her buddies, Jessica S. and Sarah R. through Turkey to Cyprus and finally to Cairo. It was an adventure and included meeting many new faces and sleeping in some very random places. Now that we are finally settled, Kim is heading off to a summer sports camp outside of Cairo along with a couple other World Racers. She will be ministering with the rest of the group in Quissa until Wednesday and then will leave for the camps. Stefan will also be joining her at the camps around the 24th of August.
The rest of the big group will be involved in ministry with the local Church in Quissa - teaching English classes, working at an orphanage, leading Sunday School, etc. All the World Racers will be rejoined in Cairo again on August 28th to see the pyramids, experience the city and have a time of debrief. Then the Lime Team will be reunited once again!
Many thanks to all our family and supporters for your constant prayers. Please know that although we may sometimes seem "quiet" on our blog, we are always in need of your prayers and faith for this ministry. At the moment we only have one hour of internet access every couple of days, so we apologize for the silence! Please pray for fruit on the work we do and that God will give us strength to endure and "run the race" till the end - and finish well! We love you all and look forward to hearing from you!
WE'RE IN AFRICA AT LAST!!!

'Nkosi sikelele Africa! (God bless Africa!)
Greetings!
THE LIME TEAM

Our message to the world...
Jacques, Lana, Stefan, and Kimmy, bondservants of Jesus Christ, called to be Missionaries to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
To our supporters and all the people around the world…Grace to you and peace from God our father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
We give thanks to God always for your prayers and support which enables us to share the Gospel of salvation around the world.
We are currently on our way from
Athens to
Turkey, sailing by ferry, where we will visit the cities of
Pergamum,
Smyrna and
Ephesus.
Thereafter, we will sail (by ferry) to
Patmos where Jesus sent his angel to the Apostle John with the Revelation from God about the last Day of the Lord.
It is concerning this Revelation of Jesus Christ that we write to you.
We don't want you to be ignorant, but to take heed of the message Jesus gave to the seven churches which are in
Asia.
Therefore we will let you know our thoughts on these seven letters.
The
Church of
Ephesus
- walked in righteousness.
They labored for the Gospel of salvation, had patience and could not bear evildoers.
They have tested false apostles and found them to be liars.
Their main feature was persevering and not becoming weary.
Nevertheless, our Lord had the accusation against them that they had
left their first love.
This meant that all their good and noble deeds as we mentioned before was not of any use.
Christ therefore urges them to Repent and return to their first love.
He who overcomes will have the privilege of eating from the tree of life.
The
Church of
Smyrna
- was faced with severe tribulation and poverty.
(Jesus comforts them that they have riches in heaven).
There were also people that weren't Jews who said they were, which added to the tribulation of the church in
Smyrna.
Jesus calls these men a synagogue of Satan.
He heeds them no to fear the coming suffering (for some were going to be thrown into prison during a 10 day time of tribulation) but to be faithful until death.
He who overcomes (by dying or persevering) shall not be hurt by the second death.
The
Church of
Pergamum
- was located in an area which Jesus called Satan's throne.
This is evident in the death of Antipas who was a Martyr amongst his fellow brothers.
Though the church held fast to the Lord's name and did not deny Him.
Still our Lord accused them of holding on to the doctrine of Balaam which is to eat food that was sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality and hold on to the doctrine of the Nicolaitans.
Therefore, Jesus tells them to repent or else He will fight against them with the truth of His word.
To them whoever comes will be given manna from heaven (Godly provision) to eat, and a white stone with a new name which no one except the recipient knows.
The
Church of
Thyatira
- God noticed their deeds of love, faith, service and perseverance.
This church was on the rise doing more now than they did at first.
A woman named Jezebel was being tolerated and that was not pleasing to God.
Many servants were being tempted into sexual immorality and eating food sacrificed to idols.
She was unwilling to repent which lead her and others who sin alongside her to a life of suffering.
All churches will come to know that their deeds (good and bad) will be repayed by our Father in heaven.
The
church of
Thyatira was called to not hold to the teachings of Jezebel.
The
Church of
Sardis
- appear to be alive, but God knows they are spiritually dead.
The angel calls them to wake up out of their spiritual state of death.
The people of
Sardis are called to strengthen everyone who is still alive in Christ and save them from certain death and not living up to God's expectations.
The people of
Sardis have been instructed to obey and repent of their sins as they were told by the angel.
They are warned that if they do not wake up from this state of spiritual death, they will be caught by surprise by the angel's coming.
Surely, there are a few people in
Sardis who are truly spiritually alive and who are worthy of walking alongside him dressed in white.
All the other people who overcome in Christ will similarly be dressed in white.
His name will always remain in the book of life and will be acknowledged before God.
The
church of
Sardis is called to listen to the Holy Spirit.
The Church in
Philadelphia
- God's message to the Church in
Philadelphia is that he has opened a door for them that will never be shut.
God knows that although they are weak, they are still obedient and faithful to his name.
Those who were deceivers and not authentic Jews will be ashamed.
The church in
Philadelphia is encouraged to stay patient and faithful.
They are promised they will receive their reward.
The Church in Laodiceas
- God the Amen and Creator says to the
Church of
Laodicea: I know that you are neither cold nor hot, but lukewarm.
Because of this, I will vomit you out of my mouth.
Because of your wealth, you have become blind and don't see you own spiritual nakedness and how poor you really are.
I ask you to buy from gold refined in fire, garments that may clothe you and anoint your eyes so that you may truly see.
As many as I love - I will rebuke!!
Therefore, I urge you to repent!
If you open the door for me, if you repent and invite me in, I will come in and dine with you.
To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with my father on His throne.
If you have ears, listen to what the Spirit says to you.
We appeal to you, brethren, bear with the word of exhortation.
For the Day of the Lord shall come like a thief in the night.
Therefore, take heed and be blameless that you also will be found worthy to sit with our Lord in His Majesty and Glory.
Greet all the Saints who are with you.
Persevere to the end.
Grace be with you all.
Amen

CAMPS, CAMPS AND MORE CAMPS!!!
Friends, we apologize for the long silence on our blog!
As you know, we
have been camping in Bosnia for the past month, and this is the first opportunity for us to give you a fresh update…
So here goes:
Our first week at Camp Emek Berakka consisted mostly of very hard work, constructing everything necessary for the following weeks.
After this, we
had a weekend of "Prayer Camp" where over a 100 believers from all over Bosnia came to "drench" the campsite in prayer.
The first weeklong camp was the "Youth Camp" and there were about 100 young people aged between 18 and 25.
We had an amazing time of worship each day and teaching by many of the Bosnian Church leaders.
Our team was very much involved in leading ice breakers and experiential learning.
Many came to Christ on this camp and we felt privileged to be part of this process.
The second camp was for teenagers and had a very different "vibe" than the first one.
One of the highlights
was the "Iron Man"- and "Iron Woman Competition", that was run by us South Africans.
The kids had great fun and many of them worked well in a team for the first time on the camp.
The third camp was the Children's Camp and the little ones truly kept us BUSY!
Unfortunately both Jacques and Lana picked up a stomach bug during this camp and they had to recover for a few days.
Once again, God did amazing things in the children's lives and we could see the change in many of them as the week progressed.
Greeting our new Bosnian friends was really not easy and we were sad to say goodbye.
We were blessed in SO MANY ways and will always have
fond memories of them.
After the camps, we joined the other World Race Teams for debrief on an island on the Croatian Coast and we REALLY needed the time of "rest"!
The program was packed with meetings and team building times, and it was good for us to reflect over the past month's ministry.
We have spent the past two/three days traveling and are now in Patra, Greece.
We will leave tomorrow morning for Corinth and spend a few days following in the footsteps of Paul the Apostle.
All of us are excited about this and have a big expectancy to learn new and wonderful things about the Early Church!

There is also some new news concerning out team members!
Kim Lynch from the Blue Team has now officially become a Lime Team member and we are really glad to have her on board!
She is a GREAT friend and we look forward to the next few months together in ministry!
WELCOME, KIMMY!

After our time in Greece we will be RACING to Turkey and spend another week there learning about the Early Christian Church.
We will arrive in Cairo on the 12th of August and will stay in Egypt for the rest of the month.
Thank the Lord with us for His faithfulness and provision in all our needs!
Please pray for us that the next few weeks will be a time of really learning new truths about God's Word and His Plan for us as a Church.
Lots of love to all our family and friends back home!
We love you, miss you and you are in our prayers!
Greetings in Christ,
THE LIME TEAM
(Jacques, Stefan, Lana and Kim L.)

Enjoying the life God gives.
It has been some time since our previous update! In this time, God has truly been
faithful and have we experienced amazing times of blessing and serving! God is doing something new in Bosnia and it is a privilege to be a part of it!! We have now been camping for the last two weeks. Our first week was spent on building a campsite that can accommodate 120 people. When we
came here we were met by an open piece of land… that was changed through a lot of hard work into what you now see on the pictures. The camps are aimed at young adults, teenagers and the last camp will be for small
children. God is bringing people from across Bosnia to this valley of hope! The Bosnian church stands united in this effort and Christians from all over helped with the planning. Amazing breakthroughs have happened the past week and God has truly touched the lives of many young adults. We are
convinced that God is calling and equipping this generation for a life of abundance and power. Please pray with us, as more than 350 people will go through this campsite in the next three weeks that God will work far beyond our own expectations!!

With us as a team-family, it is going very well! We are all healthy and enjoying the camping, nature and the work God is doing in us! God is preparing something new in each of our
lives and His strength and provision overflows us!!
Thank you for every prayer and all the support!! We love you all very much and are looking forward to hear from you!!
Baie liefde spesiaal aan ons ouers en families!!
